Our very first THIS FASHION outlet was opened in Toa Payoh Central, a Housing Development Board (HDB) estate. From there, we continued expanding into other HDB estates such as Ang Mo Kio, Tampines, Clementi, Bedok, Bukit Panjang and Bendemeer. Due to expensive rents from locations in the Orchard Road belt and the lack of suburban shopping centers at that point in time, we had to limit our expansion to HDB estates. However, in 1995 when new suburban shopping malls started opening up, we decided to shut down some of our HDB outlets and moved into these newly opened malls such as Tiong Bahru Plaza and Eastpoint Mall.

Although by then THIS FASHION was already a popular store among many young ladies, we were still rejected by landlords of upmarket shopping centres in the Orchard Road area. These landlords were worried that we would not be able to survive with such low prices and that our low prices would affect the other tenants' business. Lastly, they feared that with such low retail prices, we would affect the upmarket image of their shopping centres.

In 1997, when Orchard Road rents plunged and many retailers in the area moved out, we seized the opportunity to expand into the Orchard Road area. We started with outlets in Orchard Point, Far East Plaza, Suntec City and Marina Square. Currently, we have 5 outlets (Cineleisure Orchard, Far East Plaza, Lucky Plaza, Midpoint Orchard and Orchard Plaza) in the heart of Orchard Road and 4 other outlets (Marina Square, Peninsula Plaza and 2 outlets in Suntec City) on the outskirts of Orchard Road.

Fortunately, your generous support over these years has proved those landlords wrong. Not only did we survive with the low prices, we have built and identity of our own. We have made it our company's mission to provide the latest fashion apparels and accessories at the lowest prices possible. Today, we have many supporters in Singapore and even other countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Japan.

Many of our customers have requested that we set up more outlets in the Orchard Road shopping centres and suburban MRT shopping malls. Much as we would like to make our customers' wishes come true, we are still faced with constraints from certain shopping centres. We hope that together with your continued support, we would be able to set up more outlets in these shopping areas.

Between late 1999 and early 2000, we have opened several new outlets including our Mega Store with a floor space of 22,000 square feet in the Singapore Post Centre at Paya Lebar. We have also moved our old outlet at Marina Square to a new one that is 6 times bigger.

We aim to set up more outlets not only in the Orchard Road area, but in other parts of Singapore as well. In the meantime, we will continue to bring in the latest fashion and the widest varieties for our customers. We will also work towards improving the quality of our service level to make your shopping experience at THIS FASHION a pleasant one.
